Sketches

Who doesn't love sketches?? They are great sources of inspiration and they are so much fun to use. I love looking at a sketch and interpreting it to make it my own. Today, I have a couple of things to share regarding sketches. First, I have a card that I made for Emma's this week. I created the sketch to go along with it.

I used Webster's Hollywood vogue paper on here along with a fun die cut from My Mind's Eye. The trim and the bloomer, which are Webster's were dry brushed with paint to give them a shabby feeling.

I also added a flower from one of the Webster's bouquets. And finally, the stamp comes from a Kaisercraft set.

You can see the sketch, along with the other cards that the team created, at the Emma's blog.

And, speaking of sketches, Paper Crafts has a call out for their next sketch book. I'm so excited about this one! I have three sketches in it - #s 37, 45 and 48. Check out the call here: Sketch Book Submissions. But, hurry! You only have until Monday night, Feb. 28th.

That's all for today. Hope you have a great day!

Vintage Fun

I normally get the Sunday Night Blues, thinking about getting back to work and school on Monday mornings, but tonight I'm doing the happy dance. We are home for Presidents Day. Yipee!! So, tonight I'm doing some cooking, some scrapping and some coupon clipping. My favorites. (Yeah, I have an exciting life, LOL!)

Did I mention that I'm the owner of a new iPad? I'm loving it so far! If you have one, do you have any aps (sp? -I've never written that word before!) to recommend?

Just wanted to share a fun project I did for Emma's last week. Our theme was vintage, so I went with a fun envelope card and tag set.

I used a Maya Road envelope and some Melissa Frances and Graphic 45 papers. The flowers are Prima and the berries and trim are Websters. And the scrunched seem binding is from Kimberly Tracy.

The adorable images are from Tim Holtz'Ideaology Seasonal Salvage Stickers. Aren't those vintage bunnies adorable? I'm so looking forward to spring and Easter this year. Can you tell?

So, that's pretty much it for today. Thanks for stopping by!

Waltzingmouse Blog Waltz

Photobucket

Have I mentioned how much I love Waltzingmouse stamps? I'm so excited to be hopping this month!

I was finally able to break out my Labels 14 stamps. I LOOOOVE them. Rather than stamping them onto a Labels 14 die, I used one from the Labels 8 collection. I like the contrast of the lines.

This card also fits the February challenge at Inspire Me! I made it using some yummy Webster's goodies. The trims are from the Wonderfall collection and the bloomers add lots of texture to it. I added a bit of Spring Market papers, too.

Thanks for stopping by! Happy Waltzing!

Live With Prima Wrap Up

Thanks so much to everyone who came by for my show this evening. I was able to share two of the three layouts I'd done. Unfortunately, things froze up on my end, but not before I was able to show my two favorite glitter techniques. If you didn't get the chance to watch the show, it was recorded. You can go to ustream.com and find the Prima Channel. It will be there. As promised, I have a giveaway. Just create a page using one of the techniques I shared and link it up to this post. I'll randomly pick a winner one week from today, February 21, to win a Prima prize pack!

Here are the three layouts with some detail shots. First is this elegant page, suitable for the older guys in in our lives.

I cut a felt frame in half and peeled off the backing a bit at a time, adding two different colors of glitter as I went.

To frame the photo, I sprayed Glimmer Mist onto a mask. Then I stamped it onto white cardstock. Once dried, I cut it out.

Silver stars and crystal sultan centers embellish the page.

This next page uses another technique using glitter and Prima masks.

I painted modpodge onto the mask, then added glitter. Once the mask was peeled a way, a glitter pattern remained. After letting it dry overnight, I punched circles with a 1 3/4" punch, then used the circles as embellishments on the page.

Have you noticed that I haven't used a single flower on either of these pages?? I think that's a first for me. But, Prima has so many other products that work perfectly for masculine pages.

This last page highlights Ryan's baseball pictures. This one doesn't have too many techniques, but uses some fun products that are perfect for boy pages.

I used some orange paper from the Paisley Road line, striped paper from Road Trip and green star paper from Spaceboy. The epoxy stickers are also from Spaceboy.

I love the voila felt with the stars and embellished it with orange glitter stars and epoxy stickers.

Glittered chipboard, more epoxy stickers and a piece of a crystal frame create the title.

As you can see, there are so many fun Prima products that are just perfect for masculine pages!

Don't forget, you have until the 21st to enter the giveaway.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Happy Valentine's Day!

It's Valentine's Day! Love is in the air. ;) My anniversary was on Saturday, so we usually celebrate both of the days together. I'm cooking filet mignon and making chocolate fondue tonight! Ryan is always so excited for Valentine's Day and all of the goodies it brings.

Today, I want to share the Valentines I made for my two favorite guys. I used a mix of Webster's goodies on here.

I used the die cut hearts from the die cut and vellum pack. I think they are from Nature's Storybook. I embellished them with lots of goodies including journaling cards...

...bloomers, netting and sparklers. I also used some paper from Sweet Season and Winter's Wings for the punched borders.

They are really frilly and sweet, not very masculine, but that's OK. Valentine's Day is all about the frou-frou and stuff. :)

The sweet seem binding is from Kimberly Tracy. She has the best colors! This one is called Spring Moss. And the pearls are Zva.

I also wanted to share this last photo of Pulu. He's too funny. Everytime I photograph my projects he has to get in on the action.

So, I hope you have a great Valentine's Day and spend it with your loved ones!

And don't forget my Live With Prima class tomorrow night, Feb. 15 at 9:30 pm EST. See the post below for details!

Thanks for stopping by. :)

Sweet Treats

How is it that Valentine's Day is almost here? I still have my Christmas wreath and flags hanging out front. Guess I better change that before Monday!

Another crazy week here. Fran has been out of town, Ryan got sick and work has been way busy. But, still I create! It keeps me sane. :)

Here is a fun project I made for Emma's color challenge this week.

I put candy hearts in the little kraft paper bag and decorated it with lots of Making Memories goodies and some beautiful Websters bloomers. Then I tied it closed with pink tulle.

The little tag uses Making Memories, too.

I also wanted to share that I posted my first project at the Vintage Street Market blog. Here's a sneak:

I'd love for you to go and check it out. The VSM blog is in full swing now. There are new posts almost daily and the projects are SO cute!!!!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day. ;)

CHA Wrap Up...Part 2

Just thought I'd post a couple of my thoughts about CHA. There are so many fun new things coming out. Vintage is still definitely in! Yay! (It will be a sad day for me when the graphic look comes back...) Another fun trend was circus themed lines. LOVE them. Those little resin cabashon flowers were everywhere. They are so cute. And one color that stood out to me is electric blue. (I've been seeing it a lot in clothes, too.)

Before I share my favorites from the show, here's my favorite layout that I did for Prima. I used the new Moulin Rouge line. Love the deep rich colors and the Parisian inspired motifs!

This is my friends wedding photo (again). I love the artsy look of it.

I added lots of flowers and some new gems.

I also used some of the new flocked rubons. I added the reverse images, too.
And the new border lace trims with the gems are one of my new favorite products from this release!

So, here are a few things that I loved: (Of course, Prima, Webster's and Vintage Street Market are on my list, but that's a given!)

Everything at the Glitz booth!!! I adored their last release and this one is even BETTER! I think they might be my new obsession. The lines are vintage, the colors are gorgeous. And the Glitz girls couldn't be nicer! Plus, they had amazing cookies at their VIP gathering. Mmmmmm...

Everything Crate! Oh my....just loving the new Emma's Shoppe line and their boy one has the cutest images. Ones I would definitely use.

October Afternoon's Rocket Boy was adorable. Ryan is so into Star Wars right now, and this will be perfect for those pictures. I'm usually a flowery girl, but the vintage images on this line hooked me big time!

My Mind's Eye Stella and Rose. All I can say is YUM! The colors, patterns, designs, stamps and brads are absolutely gorgeous!!

So, you'll probably be seeing some projects with these lines on them as soon as I get my hands on them!

That's it for today. Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great day. :)

CHA Wrap Up - Part 1

What can I say? CHA was so much fun!!! I love spending time with my girls Jess and Cindy. We always have the best time together and have the roommate thing down pat. I miss them already.

There were so many great things about being at the show. We bought lots of awesome new products for Emma's Paperie. Oh, my wallet is definitely going to be hurting! I'll share some of my favorites next time, but today I wanted to focus on one of the best things about being there. The people! Unfortunately, I didn't get to take pictures of everyone I wanted to, since I had to leave a day early due to the weather. (and boy, I'm glad I did...I've heard horror stories about cancelled flights and delays..) But here are a few of my favorite shots.

First, I got to meet some friends whom I've known a long time online, but never had the chance to meet face to face. It was so great finally getting to do so:

Betsy Veldman

Becky Olson

Pamela Young

Ellen Sosnoski

Piradee Talvanna and Kim Watson

Julia Sandvoss

Nina Brackett

Jamie Dougherty

(Are you sick of my mug yet???)

Then there were the friends I've met before, but always love catching up with...

Stacy Cohen

Cari Fennell and Sharon Laakonnen (so bummed that this is the only shot I got at Prima!!)

Sonda Tadlock

Michelle Jackson

Maren Benedict

And of course, those special people who I always love spending time with at CHA...

Cindy, who I didn't get a shot alone with...WAH...!

Jess

and Cath

There were so many more people who I wanted to get pictures with, but my time ran out. I'm so bummed that I didn't get any with the Webster's gang, though we had a lot of fun hanging out together!

Here's one last photo. It was the group shot taken at the Paper Crafts booth. This picture just makes me happy!

Well, I'll leave you with a card. I made this one for the February GDT lift at Inspire Me. I used the new Ladies and Gents line along with a new bloomer and some netting.

Thanks for stopping by. I'll be back with some of my favorites from the show, soon.
Have a great day!
